Samuel Anderson (1773-1850)

• Appointed by President John Adams as surgeon's mate in the Navy.
• Raised the Mifflin Guards group of volunteers for the War of 1812, serving at Fort DuPont and later promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the One Hundredth Regiment, Second Brigade, Third Division in 1811.
• Assigned to West Indies Squadron under Commodore Porter, then served as surgeon on the USS Hornet and USS Decoy.
• Served in Pennsylvania House of Representatives and as Speaker of the House

Simon Snyder (1759-1819)

• Established Selinsgrove gristmill
• Justice of the Peace and delegate to the 1790 Pennsylvania constitutional convention
• Representative and Speaker of the House
• Pennsylvania Governor 1808-1817
• Establishment Harrisburg as the state capitol.
• Vice Presidential nominee in the 1816 presidential election
