Dr. Allison was a Dartmouth graduate who started as a physician at

Willard's Asylum in New York from 1878-1889

He was named superintendent of the State Asylum from 1889-1892

and then co-founded the Asylum for Insane Convicts at Mattewan (later Mattewan State Hospital)

In his medical career he specialized in "Motives Which Govern the Criminal Acts of the Insane."

Measures 8.25 x 11 inches, suitable for framing
