writes to a business counterpart in England, Mr. Arthur Jones, Esq
sharing candid opinions celebrating the end of the American Civil War:
"Our war is over and the North through the aid of providence have most glorious
put down slavery forever as well as Southern rebels who are now dead
the leaders will soon be out of existence most of whom should have been hung
as well as Jeff. Davis their leader whi will either be hung or banished."
The remainder of the letter discusses their land dealings in detail.
Signed and dated, November 22nd 1865, just weeks after the
surrender of the CSS Shenandoah in England.
