Letter which once held counterfeit money related to the Semple case

regarding fake Monroe $100 bank notes uncovered by the SS in Philadelphia


The Treasury Dept letter, dated January 1901, outlining plans to coordinate with

'Mr. Holland. and the Attorney General, John Griggs on the matter. 

This was one of the biggest early counterfeit cases in the US.

The letter is Signed by the Secret Service Division chief, John E. Wilkie,

with unidentified initial signature appearing just below
