Corporal Cornelius Goodwater - WWII African American Harlem Hellfighters unit

posed on a New York State Police Harley Davidson Motorcycle with rifle drawn

while serving in the New York National Guard in 1936.

 

In 1940 he was transferred to the 369th Coastal Artillery Unit (Harlem Hellfighters)

and served in Hawaii and possibly in Okinawa with the 369th AAA Gun Battalion.

 

Original snapshot photo, ID'd and dated on the front lower edge in ink

and in pencil on verso 'Bath, New York - 1936 - Harley.'

 

Measures 2.5 x 4.25 inches, suitable for framing

 

Good condition, with light crease upper middle, and some age wear
